Oak Marsh

Oak Marsh was Pete Dye's first design in Florida, opened in 1972 and routed straight through the island's tidal salt marsh beneath heritage live oaks. Water and marsh come into play on most of its holes, and the greens are small—accuracy and nerve matter more than length here.

A $7.4 million renovation led by Beau Welling reopened the course in 2025, refreshing turf, bunkers and conditioning while keeping Dye's original strategy. It plays to a par of 72.

The defense at Oak Marsh is the marsh itself—tidal creeks and grass flats that pinch the fairways and guard the small greens, with live oaks framing the corridors. It's a shot-maker's course, exactly the sort of tight, water-laced test Dye would go on to build his name on.
