Opened in 2001, Pacific Dunes was Tom Doak's first design at Bandon, and it plays less like something built than something found—the routing follows the natural contours of the dunes rather than fighting them, at a walkable par 71 over 6,633 yards.
It's the course most regulars name as their favorite at Bandon, and the stretch along the bluffs in the middle of the round is the reason why.
Pacific Dunes saves its fireworks for the ocean holes and lets the 18th settle quietly back into the dunes—a green folded into fescue and gorse, hand-watered at first light before the day's groups come through. It's a links-honest close to Tom Doak's walk across the Bandon dunescape.
Greens are scheduled for aeration 14–16 October 2026, with roughly 14 days of recovery after. Expect normal green speeds from about 30 Oct.
