Royal New Kent is Mike Strantz's tribute to Royal County Down and Ballybunion, built into the rolling hills east of Richmond—hand-stacked stone walls, tall fescue, blind-ish approaches, all without a coastline in sight. Stonehouse, another Strantz design nearby, is also in our catalog, though we don't have photos or a full write-up for it yet.

The obvious pairing here is Colonial Williamsburg itself—89 original 18th-century buildings and working museums, enough to fill two or three non-golf days if you bring the family along.
