Chambers Bay is a one-course destination, but the course is a genuine championship test—a Robert Trent Jones Jr. links built into a former sand-and-gravel quarry on Puget Sound, substantial enough to have hosted the 2015 U.S. Open.

It's public and walking-only, about 40 minutes south of Seattle, which makes it an easy day trip or an overnight paired with Tacoma rather than a resort you need several nights to justify.
